New P.E. Field
No More Scraped Knees!
We are excited to announce the newest project for GSES. This is a large, much needed project, and it will take the involvement of Baldwin County Board of Education, City of Gulf Shores, WAS Landscapes Architects, Vince Lucido with KREBS, Kutter's Grounds Maintenance, parents, and the community. As you are aware, the existing ground for our students' PE and outdoor time is on asphalt and concrete - fertile ground for skinned knees! We have become aware of an adjacent piece of dry, school property approximately 2-3 acres that will be ideal for a PE field. This space will enable the children to have a more appropriate outdoor facility for all of the students on the island as well as city sports. We are now in the midst of planning and discussion. This project will require clearing, grading, topsoil, drainage, irrigation, and sod. Craft Farms has already committed to donating the sod! This is our most ambitious project to date, but we are excited and optimistic owing to the fact that last year the community united to build an intermediate playground. As plans are made and progress forwarded, you will be posted. Go Dolphins!
